BC public schools offer many possibilities for students to make their dreams become a reality. Here are some choices for you to consider:
Short Term Language/Activity Program:
If you want a ‘taste’ of learning English, then consider a short term program. Then, choose BC.
Many BC School Districts offer ESL\Activity programs. Students have the opportunity to learn English, to experience life in a Canadian family and to participate in all kinds of activities such as skiing, golf, horseback riding, hiking and art and music and dance.
Program lengths vary from one to three months and take place during the school year so students have contact with Canadian students. Usually students learn ESL for part of the school day and participate in group activities for the rest of the time. Many students who choose a short-term program want to stay on and complete an academic program.

Summer Language/Activity Program:
Enjoy your summer vacation by learning English and meeting new friends. Choose a program in a big city or a smaller town.
Whatever you choose, you can be certain that your time spent studying in BC will create memories that will last you a life time. BC is a paradise for activities such as kayaking, sailing, hiking and camping in the summer months.
Summer programs run from two to eight weeks. Students learn English for part of the day and then participate in fun activities where they use the skills learned in the classroom.

Academic Programs:
You have decided to complete your studies in Canada. Great choice! Canadian public education is known for its quality and its flexibility. You have to pick a place in Canada to study. There is no better place than BC!
BC schools enroll students from all over the world to learn and to become part of their family. BC families welcome international students into their homes to share their lives.
Students who choose to study in academic programs have the chance to graduate from a BC public high school and apply to universities and colleges throughout the world.
The BC Dogwood Diploma is recognized as a stepping-stone to a wide range of opportunities for further study. The BC academic school year runs from September-June.
As an international student, you will have many programs from which to choose. You can be sure that any program you choose will be recognized by the government who accredit all BC public schools. BC Ministry of Education.
To graduate with a Dogwood Diploma from a BC public high school, you will normally require at least two years of study. Realistically, if you study in BC for three or more years, you will be much more fluent in English and will have a smooth transition to university or college.
