Programs By Objective

BC public schools offer many programs that will interest you:

Academic Graduation Program

Students who select this program are interested in graduating from a BC public school and in attending college or university either in North America or abroad.

  • Minimum of two school years
  • Full BC curriculum
  • BC Dogwood High School Graduation Diploma
  • Successful students eligible to apply to colleges and universities throughout Canada, the US and globally
  • Opportunity to participate in the life of the school including sports, music culture and extra-curricular activities

One-Year Programs:

Students choose to study in a BC public school one year to improve their English, to learn about Canadian culture and to experience life in a Canadian family and school.

  • Minimum of one school year
  • Selected courses including academics, English as a second language (ESL), athletics and arts — depending on student’s level of English
  • Students who successfully complete this program may have their achievements validated in their own countries
  • Opportunity to participate in the life of the school including sports, music culture and extra-curricular activities

Semester Programs:

Students who select this option usually enroll in courses from September-January or February-June.  Objectives are similar to those of the one-year program.

  • Programs run for five months (September – January) (February-June)
  • Students study four or five subjects each semester
  • Opportunity to participate in the life of the school including sports, music culture and extra-curricular activities
  • Students may have their courses validated in their home countries

Short Term Programs:

Students who want to improve English skills and ‘taste’ life in a BC public school and with a Canadian family.

  • Programs run from 1-5 months during the school year
  • Students normally take regular courses, depending on their level of English, or enroll in a combination of regular courses and activities
  • Program is usually very flexible
  • Students awarded certificates

Summer Programs:

Students who want to come to BC during their vacation from school.  Goals including learning English and participating in Canadian life.

  • Programs run from 2-8 weeks
  • ESL classes offered
  • Activity programs offered
  • Program certificates awarded upon successful completion of program
